KULTURVERKET FLAMMEN

—Visual identity and graphic design—

25th of September 2015 Nittedal kommune invited design agencies to propose a solution and offer for their new brand identity. Sommerseth Design went on to win this assignment. Beating some of the most known agencies in Norway. 

Part 2 of the delivery was to create a visual identity for the new culture house. Name being voted forward by the people of Nittedal.

Our team suggested quite a few differect directions. Some of them presented below. Nittedal had some ideas they wanted to see through, with the help of our designers they did. 

We would like to thank Geir Smith-Solevåg (CMO) and Mariann Torsvik (CEO, Kulturverket Flammen) at Nittedal kommune for a good co-operation throughout the project.

This design concept was inspired by strings from a guitar, keys from a piano and the ever so famous matches that Nittedal is known for.

The second proposal we wanted to take the different rooms and scenes of the culturehouse and show that everyone has a place to fulfil their creative dream. The color green is to represent growth and nature surroundings.

The last one we want to show from the sketch board is the dynamic "f". Inspired by cloth, levels of different culture activities and the more obvious torch/flame shape.

Below is a small selection of some of the elements that were part of the delivery. Every item was added to the existing online designmanual that contains all the "dos and donts"  regarding the visual identity and its designelements. 

The version selected by Nittedal is a custom title, with open and unknown spaces allowing established and raw talents to come through and perform in an organic and simplistic manner. It is reminiscent of  tight and modern functionalism, fire matches and neon signs. The logo combines tight professionalism with a more childlike expression, which also is this culture house's vision of being an inclusive forum for all.

"The river" - the design element for Nittedal Kommune is also a part of the visual identity for Kulturverket Flammen.
