We built the tool we were missing
1 November 2026

At Sommerseth Design, we've worked for clients since 2007, and we've tried just about every tool out there along the way. Now we've built our own: PixelTask brings time tracking, cards and clients together in one calm place, for freelancers and small agencies.
It started with Wunderlist
Our love for a good tool came from Wunderlist. It was simple and beautiful, and it did one thing well. When it disappeared, the search began.
Since then, we've tried just about everything under the sun. In recent years we were heavily invested in Notion, but used maybe two percent of what it could do. We tracked time in a separate tool, wrote proposals somewhere else, and created invoices in Visma eAccounting.
The same thing, moved from place to place
A typical project went something like this: set up the project, write the proposal, create the project once the client said yes, and finally invoice in yet another system. Much of the time went into moving the same information from one place to another.
We needed something simple, beautiful and free of noise. So we built PixelTask, first and foremost for ourselves. The Mac app came first, then the phone. Today we use it every day.

The Board view: every card, sorted by where it stands.
Now we're letting it out
Over time, colleagues and others got curious. So, with a few butterflies in our stomachs, we're opening PixelTask up to more people: solo professionals and small agencies who want one simple tool, whatever their field.
In PixelTask you handle time tracking, projects and cards in one place. On top of that, you get:
- proposals your client accepts with a code sent by email
- a client portal where clients comment and approve right on the image
- design manuals per client, team chat and calendars in sync
- invoice data that goes straight to Visma eAccounting as draft invoices

The client portal: clients comment right on the image.
PixelTask runs on Mac, iPhone and Android, with the client portal in the browser. The app is available in Norwegian, English, German, Italian, Spanish and French, and your data is stored on servers in Stockholm.
